Obituary

Yvonne M. Gingras Yvonne was born May 20, 1927 in Cornwall, VT the eldest of 8 children to Alfred and Irene(Stone)Rheaume. She received her early education in Cornwall and later graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1945. She married J. Bernard R. Gingras on September 02, 1946 at St Marys Church of the Assumption in Middlebury, VT. Together they farmed the family farm on Snake Mountain Road in Weybridge, VT and raised 7 children. Besides being a wife, mother and grandmother, she was active in the CDA, Home Dem, 4-H, and taught Catechism for many years. She loved to dance and enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, rug hooking and baking. She was a two time winner of the Leona Thompson Award for her quilts at the Addison County Fair and Field Days. She also made beautiful wedding cakes for over 30 years, taking great pride in their creation. Yvonne was very devout in her faith and was a lifelong member of St. Marys Church in Middlebury. In her later years, she was Sacristan at the church and took much pleasure in making Baptismal bibs. Yvonnes biggest joy was her family and having family get-togethers. She rarely turned down a good game of Scrabble, Rummy, or dice with the grandchildren. Yvonne is survived by her children Norman and wife Sandy of Memphis, Tn, Paul and wife Susan of Weybridge, VT, Marianne Harcourt and husband Andy of Deerfield, MA , Gary and wife Suzanne of Atlanta, GA, Yvette Wright and husband Jerry of Shoreham, VT, Marc and wife Kathy of Newport, VT, Jane Ploof and husband Scott of Bristol, VT, 14 grandchildren,5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind a sister Shirley Longchamp and husband Alfred of Graniteville,VT, 2 brothers, Gerald Rheaume of Starksboro, Kenneth Rheaume and wife Loretta of Bristol, VT and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rheaume of Cornwall, VT. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard, 2 brothers Leo and Lawrence, 2 sisters Betty Jane Robichaud and Barbara Gagnon. Calling hours will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, May 25, at the Sanderson Funeral Home, 117 So.Main Street, Middlebury,Vt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Marys Church of the Assumption in Middlebury at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 26, in celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Health Center in Middlebury, Addison County Home Health and Hospice Inc. or St. Marys School Scholarship Fund.
