William L. Brush 70, died Sunday Morning November 26, 2017 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 23, 1947 in Middlebury the son of Howard Earle and Ivis (Dayton) Brush.
Bill was a graduate of Middlebury Union High School, class of '66 and he furthered his education and earned an associates degree from Champlain College. After leaving college, Bill joined the Vermont Army National Guard and served for six years.
Bill worked most of his life in automotive, starting with the family dealership at Brush Motors and then his own dealership called Brush Auto. He then worked for G. Stone Motors for many years as a car salesman. He was also part owner of a flower distribution business for a few years and a carpet salesman at Phinneys.
Bill was a member of the Middlebury Congregational Church and a former member of the Middlebury Lions Club. He was an active volunteer with the Howard E Brush Memorial Sports Center managing the Zamboni / ice management system. He enjoyed golfing, boating on Lake Dunmore while listening to Frank Sinatra and spending time at deer camp with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Dagan Brush and wife Thais of Royal Oak, MI; Jory Brush and Aaron Brush both of Middlebury; by his sister, Carol Cummings and husband Michael of Ripton; Jeanette Brush of Salisbury; by his brother Howard "Skip" Brush and wife Cindy of Middlebury; by his grandson Havyn Brush of Middlebury and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother Fletcher "Buster" Brush.
Memorial services will be held on Friday December 1st, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Middlebury Congregational Church (27 North Pleasant St. Middlebury, VT 05753). The Rev. Andy Nagy-Benson will officiate.
Private burial will take place at a later date in Ripton, VT.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Middlebury Memorial Sports Center at FOMH, P.O. Box 835, Middlebury, VT 05753, and indicate in memory of Bill Brush.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.
