William C. Baker, Sr. 70, died Sunday morning October 28, 2018 at his residence. He was born August 4, 1948 in Colchester, Vermont the son of James R. and Bernadette (LEcuyer) Baker. Bill was a graduate of Vergennes High School class of 1967. He married Janice Kennett November 14, 1980 at St. Peters Catholic Church, Vergennes. He was a man with a huge heart. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and brother. Bill tried to be a friend to all, especially those in need. It gave him great pleasure to welcome others into his home to shelter and feed them. He enjoyed camping, boating, and cooking. Bill believed in angels and now he is one watching over all of us. Bill leaves behind his wife of 37 years, children Nicole (Luiz) Schmitz of Brazil, William C. (Curtis Gresser) Baker, Jr. of Washington State, and Tina (Keith) Stewart of Monkton, his siblings Donald (Ginette) Baker of Bowdoin, Maine, and Mary (Joe) Alexander of Bristol, his sister-in-law Shari Baker of Bristol, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous cousins, and his beloved dog Sophie. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Thomas and James Baker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 4:00 PM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Bristol with the Rev. Yvon Royer as the celebrant. Burial will be at Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to Bristol Rescue, 45 Monkton Rd, Bristol, VT 05443.
