Saudi Arabia Stephen Bougor
Stephen Bougor died unexpectedly on December 19, 2017
He was born February 5, 1972 in Middlebury, VT the son of Anthony J. and Tena (Conway) Bougor.
Stephen was a graduate of Middlebury Union High School class of 1990
Survivors are his mother Tena Bougor of York, S.C., his two brothers, Michael Bougor of Middlebury and Kurt Antonanteli and wife Eve of Lake Wylie, S.C., also by his nephews, Jeremy Bougor of Middlebury, Nicholas and Andrew Antonanteli of Lake Wylie, Sc., a niece Isabella Antonanteli of Lake Wylie, Sc. Also several other relatives.
Stephen loved traveling and visited all 7 continents and 152 countries. His goal in life was to visit all of them. He was beloved by faculty, students and parents. Stephen started his career at Christ the King in Rutland; taught at Proctor and then moved to Dubai where he taught for 13 years. Currently he was teaching in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Last year he took a sabbatical and traveled around the world living his dream. He spent 4 months on a cruise ship and said he missed the boat rocking him to sleep at night.
He was an avid collector of antiquities and oriental carpets. His room in SC is compared to a museum.
Even though he was gone a lot, his summers were devoted to connecting with family and friends.
He was a kind, caring, loving and adventurous (even climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro) young man.
He will be greatly missed by colleagues in the US and around the world.
To honor Stephen's legacy as a teacher, a fund is being established at the American School of Dubai (ASD) to ensure students, regardless of financial need, are able to participate in ASD's global and service learning programs and to ensure such experiences remain a pillar to an ASD education.
Stephen was a dedicated Middle School faculty member at ASD for eleven years from 2005-2016 where he was known for his adventurous spirit, deep connections with students and the love of travel. He volunteered regularly with the Habitat for Humanity student program and led many global learning experience trips.
