Stanley Livingston Berger, age 81 of Middlebury, VT died peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing in Middlebury after a short battle with Leukemia.
Stan was born July 4, 1936, in Scranton, PA to Stanley and Eliza Jane Nuttall Berger. He was raised in Moorestown, NJ, graduating from Moorestown High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Trenton State College in 1959. He taught Mathematics and Computer Science in the Morris Hills Regional School District in New Jersey from 1959 through 1996. After living in Morris County, NJ from 1960 until 1999, Stan and his wife Miriam, retired to Middlebury in 1999.
Stan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Miriam Bermas Berger, son Scott and his wife Rita of Virginia, son Eric and his wife Tracey of Massachusetts, daughter Dawn Fairbanks and her husband John of Maryland, son Kurt and his wife Michelle of Pennsylvania, three granddaughters, Chloe, Mollie, and Audrey and one grandson, Nathan. Stan is also survived by his brother Richard.
Stan was a past president of the Addison Country Retired Teachers Association as well as past treasurer of the Friends of Panther Hockey. He was an avid fan of all sports.
There will be no viewing or service, as Stanley has left his remains to the Anatomical Gift Program at the Robert Larner, MD, College of Medicine of the University of Vermont.
His family would like to thank the staff at Helen Porter as well as Addison County Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful and caring support they were to both Stan and his wife.
