Ruth L (Sawyer) Stewart died in Middlebury, VT on June 30, 2016 at the age of 82. Ruth was born on June 9, 1934, in Newport, VT to Rodney and Alice (Cole) Sawyer. She graduated from Hardwick Academy, Hardwick, VT. She married Bernard Stewart June 27, 1952, in East Hardwick, VT. Ruth retired from Middlebury College Human Resources Department in 1993. Ruth was an avid gardener and crafter. She is survived by her sons, Burton (Bobbi) Stewart and James (Linda) Stewart. Granddaughters: Heather (Jeff) Thomas, Kelly (James) Vandewende and Sarah (Justin) Bishop. Great grandchildren: Colby and Brodie Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard. Services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11 AM at Middlebury Congregational Church.
