Obituary

ROSEMARY (PROVENCHER) PETERSEN MIDDLEBURY Rosemary (Provencher) Petersen, 77, a longtime resident of Middlebury, VT died suddenly on Saturday morning, June 5, 2010 at Shard Villa in Salisbury, VT. Rosemary was born on December 17, 1932, the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth Provencher. She attended Plainville (CT) High School, graduating in 1950, where she was known for her outstanding singing voice. From 1953-1960 she served as Plainvilles assistant town clerk. She was married to Max Petersen on July 4, 1959. In 1962 the couple moved to Middlebury. Rosemary loved to sing and listen to music of all kinds, dancing, bird watching, the lilacs and peonies in the back yard, dogs and cats, reading murder mysteries, margaritas, and good meals with family and friends. Rosemary is survived by her loving husband Max, her daughter Karen Petersen and husband Kurt Plank of North Ferrisburgh; her sister Mary Provencher of Plainville, CT; brother Robert and sister-in-law Charlotte of West Hartford, CT; brother Jerry of Bradenton, FL; brother-in-law James Petersen of Salisbury; sister-in-law Jacqueline English of Wilder; sister-in-law Helen Aulis and husband Ralph of White River Junction; granddaughter Phoebe Plank; several nieces and nephews. She had very special relationships with her nephew Mark Petersen of Salisbury and her dear friends Lori Walker and Mildred Denney. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Oscar Provencher, sister-in-law Margaret Provencher, brother-in-law Larry English, and nephew James Petersen. The family wishes to express its gratitude for the gentle and loving care she received while residing at Shard Villa during the last three months. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 9, 2010 in Holman Cemetery in Salisbury, VT at 11 AM. The Rev. William Beaudin will officiate.
