Ronald Sawyer was born August 8, 1936, in Middlebury, Vermont, son of Gerald E. Sawyer and Theodora (Johnson) Sawyer. He passed away peacefully on April 3 at Tidewell Respite Facility, Sarasota, FL. Ron grew up in the country on the Ledgeholm Farm on Munger Street in Middlebury, Vermont. Ron graduated from Middlebury High School in 1954 and St. Lawrence University, Canton, N.Y in 1958 with a BA in Business Administration. He had a fulfilling career in the hospitality industry beginning as a management trainee at the Pinehurst Golf Resort, Pinehurst, NC and retiring as an executive with ITT Sheraton Corporation, Boston, MA. This was followed by 10 years of consulting for Starwood Hotels, White Plains, NY. He retired in 2007. In the beginning retirement included a "snowbird lifestyle," five months in his home on Lake Champlain, near Basin Harbor Club, and seven months in Sarasota, FL. As time went on, he spent more time in Sarasota enjoying theater, the arts, going on cruises, reading and dining in a variety of restaurants with friends. While in Sarasota, he stayed connected to his friends and high school classmates by serving on the reunion committee for many years. Ron is survived by his sister Beryl Notman of Enfield, CT, his niece Heather Machado, and his nephew Peter Notman. He was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Theodora Sawyer, his niece Andrea Notman and brother-in-law Donald Notman. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Saturday, April 22 at 11:00 for a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, Town Hill Rd., New Haven, VT.
