Roger H. McCray 82, died Friday evening July 13, 2012 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.
He was born July 6, 1930 in Shoreham, the son of the late Harry and Ione (Baldwin) McCray. He was a graduate of Brandon High School class of 1948.
Roger operated a farm in Orwell for many years. He was a member of Independence Lodge # 10 F & A.M., of Orwell, he enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycles, wrestling, attending Devils Bowl Speedway, the farming way of life and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Jamie McCray, of Addison, by his grandchildren, Hunter and Olivia McCray, of Addison, by his Nephew who he raised as one of his own children from the age of 3, Chris Scherer and his wife Tina, and their son Tyler, of New Haven, by his aunt, Olwyn Handcock, of Vero Beach, FL, by his niece, Lisa Brown, of Queensbury, NY and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Betty (Landon) McCray who he married February 6, 1953 in Vergennes; she predeceased him on December 2001, also by his sister, Janice (McCray) Emery who died June 25, 2000.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 2 P.M. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury, where friends and family may call from 1 P.M. until the time of the service, the Rev. Elisabeth Smith, pastor of the Middlebury United Methodist Church will Officiate.
Burial will follow in Lake View Cemetery in Shoreham.
