Cornwall- Rodney L. Gibeault of Cornwall passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024.
Rod is survived by brother, Raymond Gibeault of Whiting; former sister-in-law, Denise Gibeault of Shoreham; niece, Cora (David) Waag of Shoreham; and nephew, Bernard Gibeault of Rutland. He was very proud of great-niece, Kali Waag (David Andrews) of Shoreham; and great-nephew, Justin Waag (Vanessa Belknap) of Denver, CO; great-great niece, Zoey Andrews, and great-great nephews, Justin Andrews and Henry Waag.
Rod was pre-deceased in death by his middle brother, Reginald Gibeault; mother, Mabel Marcelle Gibeault Doane; and father, Lionel Gibeault. He leaves behind many cousins.
Rod was born at home in Whiting, and raised on the family farm on Gibeault Road in Whiting. Rod was the youngest of three boys born in 4 years. They were known to the locals as Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Rod graduated valedictorian of Brandon High School, Class of 1960. He graduated from University of Vermont. He served in the U.S. Navy 1966 to 1973 in the Intelligence Department. After the service, Rod taught school at Mount Holly. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service to make his home in Cornwall.
Rod loved the Green Mountains of Vermont, feeding the birds, and watching the deer and turkey feed in the fields behind his home in Cornwall. He was an avid fan of Middlebury College Panther Ice Hockey, both men's and women's division, and golf on television.
A celebration of life will be held Monday October 21st at Rod's home in Cornwall, with a scattering of his ashes at that time. Donations can be made to Addison County Home Health or Homeward Bound, Middlebury, Vermont.
