Obituary

Robert Stearns Warner, 93, died early Sunday morning July 3, 2016 at Porter Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1923 in Middlebury, the son of Harry and Bernice (Stearns) Warner. Bob was a graduate of Middlebury High School and had worked at Agway as a customer service Representative for many years. He married Gladys Mae Kimball on October 29, 1949, and he built their home in Weybridge over 60 years ago. He was the former Fire Chief of the Weybridge Volunteer Fire Dept. for 14 years. Bob was the last surviving Charter member of the Fire Department. Robert was also a member of the Middlebury United Methodist Church, Union Lodge # 2 F & A.M., Addison County Fire Fighters Association, and had also served as the Weybridge Fire Warden for many years. He is survived by his three daughters, Joyce W. Foster and Jim Sr., of Middlebury, Linda J. LHeureux and Craig of Bridport, Bette J.W. Le Beau and Keith Sr., of New Haven. Also by his eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, several nieces and 2 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-laws. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys Mae (Kimball) Warner who died December 31, 1992, by his daughter Susanne M. Gove who died February 26, 1997 and by a great granddaughter Sierra Mae Butler. He was also predeceased by his parents Harry and Bernice Warner, his sister Lucille Burns, his nephew John Berger, his niece Joan Malloy, his parents-in-law Burton Sr. and Florence Kimball, and his brother-in-law Burton Kimball, Jr. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 10, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, located at 117 South Main Street, Middlebury. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Middlebury United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Weybridge Hill Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Weybridge Volunteer Fire Department after the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bobs name may be made to the Weybridge Volunteer Fire Dept. at 1727 Quaker Village Road, Weybridge Vermont 05753.
