RIPTON- Robert A. Bergedick, Jr., 64, most recently a longtime resident of Middlebury, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 30, 2011.
Born in Dayton, OH August 23, 1946, he was the son of the late Robert A., Sr. and Phyllis L. (Heffner) Bergedick.
Bob was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville AR and the University of Vermont.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps in which he served from 1964-1968, having served in Viet Nam.
Bob was employed by Vermont State Parks where he served as park supervisor. In later years he worked at Mary Hogan Elementary School, where he also volunteered and served as a friend to special needs students. His devoted service was appreciated and acknowledged by the school. During summer months he volunteered at Silver Towers Camp in Ripton.
Most recently Bob worked for Kinny Drug of Middlebury.
Bob was a collector of model cars and had an extensive music collection from the 1960s and 1970s. He also had articles published in Mobilia, a publication for model car enthusiasts.
Surviving family include four sisters; Kay Doolan and her husband Jim and Patches of Ripton, Patricia Pat Lynch and her husband Paul of Poultney, Nancy Bergedick and her partner Gene Connelly of E. Bridgewater, MA, and JoAnn Bergedick and her partner Lauren Aldrich of Bisbane, Austrailia; nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A private family service will be conducted at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, Middlebury. Burial will be at a later date in Ripton.
