Middlebury, VT Robert T. Alden Robert T. Alden, 91, died Thursday January 8, 2009, at Porter Medical center after a long illness. He was born June 8, 1917, in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Alanson & Grace (Hunt) Alden. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in WW II. Robert was a graduate of Middlebury College, Class of 1940 He was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Chi Psi Fraternity, the Middlebury College Alumni Association. He was a class agent and secretary. In the Middlebury Community he was a member of the friends of Art and the Sheldon Museum. Robert was employed as an accountant for the Clark Equipment Co. in Lima Ohio for many years. Survivors include his wife Barbara (Plumer ) Alden, of Middlebury, his three sons, William Alden and his wife Sharon, of Sarasota, FL, Meigs Alden and his wife Alana, of South Dennis, MA, and John Alden and his wife Chung, of Indianapolis, IN, by his daughter, Rebecca Alden, of West Dennis, MA, by his stepson, Peter Galligan and his wife Marcy, of West Rutland, his two stepdaughters, Sharon Johnson and her husband William, of Cornwall, and Nancy Galligan, of Parker, CO, by his nine grandchildren and his ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Lewis (Baker) Alden who died in 1979, by his parents, and his sister and brother. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2009, at 9:30 AM at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Middlebury.The Rev. Terrance Gleason will officiate.
