Obituary

Rutland, VT Richard Alden Pearson Mr. Richard Alden Pearson, 63, a resident of Castleton and of 94A Grove St. in Rutland died unexpectedly Saturday, February 4, 2006. He was born on December 7, 1942 in Medford, Ma. The son of Dr. Albert & Priscilla (Alden) Pearson. He grew up in Fitchburg, MA and graduated from Fitchburg High School and the University of Vermont. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He received his law degree from Syracuse University in 1975. He later moved to Castleton, VT and worked in the law firm of Dick, Hackel, and Hull in Rutland. He established his own firm and later partnered with his long-time dear friend, Peg Flory to form Pearson and Flory. He was involved for many years with the Rutland County Court Diversion Board, the Lakes Region Youth Orchestra, the Rutland City Bar Association Law Day Program, and was a dedicated board member of Green Across the Pacific. Dick is survived by his wife, Marlene Pearson, a son, Derek Pearson, two daughters, Anja and her husband Tim, Alexa and her husband Alex, also by his father, Dr. Albert Pearson, his bother, William Pearson, and three sisters; Jean and her husband Dr. William Fifield, Barbara and her husband William Johnson, and Anne and her husband Sean Walsh. Also by his two nieces; Elizabeth and Jessie Johnson and son Owen, tow nephews; Adam Fifield and his wife Kathy and David Fifield. Dick had a passion for classical music, NY Times Crossword puzzles, woodworking, he was an excellent chef, and enjoyed intellectual debates with family and friends. He was always there for those who needed him; he was loved dearly by his family and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 3 PM at the Rutland Superior Court. Memorial Contributions in memory of Richard may be made to the Rutland City Bar Assoc.
