Richard F. Billings Sr. 87, died Tuesday evening February 4, 2014 at his residence in Middlebury. Richard was born July 10, 1926 in Proctor, the son of the late Fredrick and Rita (Whittemore) Billings. A graduate of Middlebury High School, class of 1943, married Joyce Vera Lee in April of 1951. He served in the United States Armys 43rd Div. in Germany during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Middlebury American Legion Post # 27. He retired as a mechanic from Champlain Construction in 1990. Richard enjoyed square dancing and going on cruises with his wife, card games, cribbage, Shuffleboard, camping, hunting, fishing, puttering around and fixing things. He is survived by his wife Joyce, of Middlebury, his sons, Richard F. Billings Jr. and wife Jennifer, of Middlebury, Ronald Billings and wife Sandra Hodgman, of New Haven, his daughters, Sandra Edwards, of Grand Isle, Janice Denu and husband Eric, of Bridport, Connie Billings and companion Corkey Fuller, of Middlebury, his brother Rupert Billings, of Orange City, Fl. and his sister Lois Parker of Lincoln. Additionally, his seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Monday February 10, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Addison County Home Health and Hospice at P.O. Box 754 Middlebury, VT 05753.
