Obituary

Cancer lost this battle on July 6th, 2015 as, when it took Pauls life, it took its own and left Pauls unwavering spirit to be surrounded by love and light eternally. Pauls courage never wavered in his 18 month battle with brain cancer. Upon diagnosis, he chose to tap into and embrace his belief that there would always be something positive to dwell on in every situation. Medical appointments became an opportunity to take picnics and spend special time together while enjoying rides with Chris in "Blue", the truck that he picked out so perfectly to fit their needs. Although he had always been the driver, he took these opportunities to hone Chriss driving skills. Week-long stays in the hospital were seen as time well spent with Chris in what they dubbed "the honeymoon suite", where love and light pushed the "hospital" into the hallways and allowed everyone that entered to feel their role in his team, Team Marion. Medical team members were undeniably driven by his positive attitude, witty remarks, sense of humor and his effervescence of love and comradery. His "honeymoon suites" were an island of positive energy and hope. Throughout his life, Paul enjoyed renovating his homes, snowmobiling, quiet moments in his boat as well as cruising the open Lake Champlain, camping with his family & friends, campfires at home & NASCAR (a huge fan of Tony Stewart from day one). However nothing brought him more joy than his wife, Chris and his children, Stephen Cobb & Cassie Marion for they were his pride and joy! Since 1999, the residents of Addison, Chittenden & Rutland counties will remember Paul as the gentle man that helped them in times of need with their satellite troubles, was an integral part of the solar installation team aiding them in their quest to lessen their carbon footprint or was the reassuring voice on the phone after regular business hours as he helped Chris in the office for hours on end. Bristol Electronics was a huge part of Paul, it brought him from the city and embraced him, engulfed him at times. That "family" will miss him and treasure the pride he infused into his work every day. Paul's was dedicated to supporting the youth of his community. Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops in Bristol, Cub Scout troops in Auburn, NH, the Mt. Abe Fall Musical cast & crew and the Mt. Abe Track & Field team athletes will remember him as the quiet, yet firm father figure that loved them unconditionally. No task was too small to provide the best experience possible. Paul built structures for parade floats, gathered supplies for projects, provided lessons in life skills by the way he lived and the way he supported the youth he encountered. These were "his kids" too. Paul is survived by his wife of 25 years, Chris Marion; son, Stephen Cobb; daughter, Cassie Marion; parents, Henry (Hank) & Connie Marion; parents in-law, David & Elissa Cobb and David & Mary Harrison, sisters, Sue & David Piasczny & Diane Marion St. Louis as well as many nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 2 pm - 5 pm at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury, VT 05753. The family requests flowers be omitted due to allergies and in their place, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Societys Hope Lodge in Burlington, VT at 237 East Ave, Burlington, VT 05401, since it was Paul & Chriss second home throughout the past 18 months.
