Middlebury Paul Raymond Adams 96 , passed away Friday Morning October 7, 2016 at East View Terrace, Middlebury, VT. He was born November 23, 1919 in Clarenceville, Quebec, the son of Harold and Corintha (Ferland) Adams. A man known for his strong work ethics, high energy and athleticism, he was captain of his MHS baseball team, a competitive member of the ski team, and president of his senior class. After graduation from MHS in 1939, he worked for the Rural Electrification Program, traveling throughout Northern Vermont setting poles and power lines, often borrowing a farmers team of horses to haul wire and poles to remote locations where motorized vehicles could not go. This led to a job in Springfield, VT at which time he married Frances Remele. They eventually settled in Middlebury, VT, where they raised a family of eight children and established and electrical contracting business. He is survived by his children, four sons, Ronald Adams of Middlebury, Michael Adams and wife Marcia of Middlebury, Joseph Adams and wife Laura of Salisbury, John Adams, of Florida, by his four daughters, Louise Carl and husband Winston of Bridport, Paula Warner and husband Gary, of Naples, FL, Patricia Perkins of Middlebury and Susan Roberts and husband David, of Lancaster, KY, by his 21 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren. Also by his brother, George Adams, of Manchester, NH. And also by his special friends, Liz Smith, Kathy Laframboise and Peg Myhre. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Frances and a brother Ferland. There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday October 13, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Marys Catholic Church, Middlebury. The Rev. Yvon Royer will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Following the burial the family will receive family and friends at the Middlebury American Legion for a celebration of his life. The family would like to thank the staff at East View and Addison County home Health and Hospice for their compassionate kindness and care of Paul.
