Obituary

Mary I. Plouffe 82, died Monday March 27, 2017 at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 25, 1934 in Benson the daughter of Bernard and Velna (Doane) Burke. Mary worked as a cook/site manager for the Bridport Senior Center through the Champlain Valley Area on Aging. She was a member of St. Bernadettes Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Bridport Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was also a 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed cooking, gardening, collecting and sharing recipes, watching Little House on the Prairie and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She married her husband of 56 years Jean Noel Plouffe September 3, 1960 at St. Pauls Catholic Church, Orwell. Together with her husband they purchased a farm on Route 22 A in Bridport starting the Plouffe Family Farm in 1961. Mary is survived by her husband Jean-Noel of Bridport, her children, Bernadette Boyle and husband Patrick of Tomball, TX , Marcel Plouffe of Bridport, Lise Fifield and husband Jeffrey of Middlebury, Paul Plouffe and wife Rebecca of Bridport and Suzanne Sampson of Ladson, S.C. By her sister Catherine Rochon of Rutland and by her grandchildren, Kathryn, Thomas, Kayla, Matilda, Daniel, Eric, Patrick, Pierre, Chelsea, Melissa, Michael, Desiree, Matthew and Beth. By her great-grandchildren, Camille, Aubri, Evelyn, Renee, Nora, Leonne, Matthew, Adela and Olivia. In addition she had a special relationship with Steven and Sherry Oullette, and their children Nicole Foster, Aaron Oullette, and Stephanie Pope. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Theresa Nantel and Donald Burke and her son-in-law Brian Sampson. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Friday March 31, 2017 from 6-9 P.M. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, located at 117 South Main Street, Middlebury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 11 A.M. at St. Bernadettes Catholic Church, Bridport, with the Rev. William Beaudin as the celebrant. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donating blood to the American Red Cross blood drives. The family would also like to thank Rutland Regional Medical Center, Porter Hospital, Porter Cardiology, Helen Porter Healthcare, Addison Family Medicine, and Town Line First Response for their care.
