East Middlebury Mary Elizabeth Koll, 83, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 in East Middlebury, VT. Born May 17, 1932 in New Haven, VT she was the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Nora B (James) Malzac. She graduated from Middlebury High School and Castleton Teachers College. A lifelong educator, she taught in Ripton, Bristol and Middlebury public schools until her retirement. While serving in education, she earned Masters degrees from the University of Vermont and Dartmouth College. After retiring from teaching, she became a real estate broker and ran a successful real estate business in East Middlebury, Mary Koll Real Estate, for many years. In early years she loved playing piano and the accordion. She was a member of the Historical Society and Womans Fire Auxiliary of East Middlebury. Mary dabbled in all aspects of life, including a stint as a Correctional officer. She is survived by her three sons, Alan J. Murray of Norcross, GA; Carl E. Murray and his wife Kelley of Bristol, VT; Eric J. Murray and his wife Erika of East Middlebury, VT. She leaves six grandchildren, Dagan A. Murray of Middlebury, VT; Lucas J. Murray of Middlebury, VT; Shaunna R. Parker of Clarendon, VT; Kristal, Shelley and Joe Davignon of Middlebury and six great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by husbands, James W. Murray, Arthur R. Gilbeault and Andrew J. Koll. She was also predeceased by brothers Joseph N. Malzac and Charles E. Malzac. A great thanks to all the great private caregivers and a special thanks to her granddaughter Kristal. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Marys Cemetery with the Rev. David Wood officiating.
