Mary C. Cobb 83, died early Saturday morning September 2, 2017 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. Her family is grateful to Helen Porter for their exemplary care and kindnesses.
She was born April 14, 1934 in Ferrisburg, in a farmhouse on land that is now Button Bay State Park. She was the daughter of William and Madeline (Barrows) Cobb.
She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Mary enjoyed collecting figurines and was an avid reader of mystery books and westerns. She loved animals most especially dogs, cats and horses. She enjoyed winters in Florida with her parents, where she became a Certified Nurses Aid.
Mary worked as a nurses aide in Addison County, and was well known around downtown Middlebury for her frequent visits on her daily walks. She would always have some news to share, and should you want to know the history of Vergennes, Ferrisburg or Middlebury during her life years, Mary was the one to ask!
She is survived by her brother David Cobb and his wife Elissa of Bristol, by her two step daughters, Kim Godbout and Nicole Niquette, her sister-in-law Peggy Cobb, and by several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Peter Cobb, her sister, Judy Cobb, her former husband Cyril A. Godbout and a step-daughter Katherine Godbout.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, 11AM at Prospect Cemetery in East Middlebury.
Memorial contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice at P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753
Marys family also wish to express their appreciation and gratitude to Vergennes Residential Care (Tim and Barbara Buskey), where she resided prior to her stay at Helen Porter.
