Mary C. Butterfield 84, died Thursday morning January 28, 2010 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 30, 1925 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of the late George and Emma (Perkins) Coursey.
Mary was a proud graduate of Middlebury High School class of 1944. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Mary was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a devoted supporter of the Addison County American Legion baseball team. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and spending time with friends and family. Mary was very active in the lives of her grandchildren, and was a volunteer at Porter Hospital for many years.
She was a telephone operator for many years and was a member of the Pioneers Club.
She is survived by her two children, Dr. Stephen A. Butterfield and his wife Jeanne, of Bangor, ME, and Nancy B. Yoeslee, of Bickleton, WA, by sister, Patricia Zeno, of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren Sarah Clapp, of Hamilton, MA, Jason Butterfield, of Brewer, ME, Scott Butterfield, of Framingham, MA and Orion Yoesle, of Bickleton, WA; great-grandchildren, Charles Clapp, of Hamilton, MA, Emma and Benjamin Butterfield, of Brewer, ME, also by several nieces and nephews.
Her husband Stewart Butterfield died in September of 1988.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at St. Marys Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church at 326 College St. Middlebury, VT 05753.
