Weybridge, VT Marian S Payne
Marian S. Payne, 89, died early Thursday morning May 18, 2006 at Star Farm Nursing Home in Burlington.
She was born September 22, 1916 in Cornwall, VT the daughter of the late George & Almeda (Bordeau) Shaw.
She lived most of her life in Bridport and attended Bridport schools and graduated from Ticonderoga High School. In 1935 she married John A Payne, they lived on the family farm until 1970 when they sold the farm and moved to Weybridge.
In 1965 Marian started employment with the Admissions office at Middlebury College and continued until 1967 she was then employed by C.O.O.P. Fire Ins, of Vermont, where she later became a personal lines underwriter until her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of the Bridport Congregational Church, Union Chapter #21 O.E.S.
Marian always had great pleasure and pride in her family and grand children. She loved music and flowers, particularly roses and was an avid bird watcher; her greatest comfort in her later years was her devoted pet poodle Penny.
She is survived by her four children, Dolores Dilloway & her husband David, of Burlington, Marvin Payne, of Bridport, Cheryl Fraley & her husband Dean, of Bozeman, Montana, and Gary Payne & his wife Cristina, of Bridport, her eight grand children, her 18 great-grand children, and her 2 great, great-grand children, her sister in law Ann G Shaw, of Florida, also by several nieces & nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Payne who died Dec 12, 1999, and also by her son Gerald Payne in 1968.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 20, 2006 at 1 PM at the Bridport Congregational Church. The rev Tim Franklin pastor will officiate.
