PORTLAND, TN- Madelyn E. Betty Booska, 83, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 while visiting in Mercer, PA. She had been a resident of Portland, TN, for the past eight years. Born March 1, 1929 in Richmond, VT, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Arnold and Ida (Pecor) Arnold Durand. She was a very proud state licensed child care provider for many families for over 45 years. Madelyn loved to cook and sew for her family and help many others. Surviving family members include her daughters, Virginia Wiest and her husband William of Gallatin, TN, Tina Makowski of Ansonia, CT., sons, Patrick Booska and his wife Pamela of New Milford, CT and Thomas Booska and his wife Paula of Aliquippa, PA.; a son-in-law Henry Pierwola of Wake Forest, NC; two brothers, James Durand of West Charleston, VT and Robert Durand of Richmond, VT a sister, Virginia Bundock of Barton, VT; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a dear and special group of friends at Highland Rim Terrace in Portland, TN. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Clarence Booska in 1985, a daughter, Jane Pierwola, a grandson, Joseph Makowski, brothers, Clyde and Roger Durand and a sister, Joann Weaver.
