MIDDLEBURY- Mabel Sue Flanagan, 93, passed away and joined the love of her life, her late husband Eric M. Flanagan, on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Fletcher-Allen Healthcare, Burlington.
Mrs. Flanagan was born in Orwell July 3, 1918 the daughter of the late John C. and Grace E. (Underwood) McIntyre.
Sue was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper for Browns Auto Parts. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Daughters of the American Revolution and a longtime member of the United Methodist Women and the Middlebury United Methodist Church.
She particularly enjoyed her family, being an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a supporter of the Addison County Humane Society. Sue was a bird watcher and lovingly provided food for them for many years.
In addition to her husband who died August 12, 2002, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth Betty Wilder on January 23, 2010 and a sister, Marie Hornbeck.
Surviving family members include her grandchildren, Michael Livingston of Middlebury and Melissa George and her husband Greg of Colchester; her son-in-law, Richard Wilder of Middlebury; her great grandchildren, Jenna Livingston, Kylie George, Kelsey George, Madison George, and Hayden George.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Middlebury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elisabeth Smith, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will take place at Case Street Cemetery, Middlebury.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Middlebury United Methodist Church, 47 North Pleasant St., Middlebury, VT 05753 or to Addison County Humane Society, 236 Boardman St., Middlebury, VT 05753.
