Obituary

Lucy E. Danyow Middlebury-Lucy E. Danyow, passed away peacefully at Porter Hospital, Tuesday, March 22, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Born February 21, 1925 in Middlebury, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Francis (Swenor) Shaw. She grew up in Middlebury where she met Raymond A. Danyow Jr. and they married on April 24, 1946. As a young woman, Lucy was a waitress at many local restaurants. In 1955 Lucy and Raymond Buck opened Champlain Construction Company in Middlebury. She was the back bone of the company. Lucy was very active with her childrens sports schedules and enjoyed watching dirt track stock car racing. During her retirement she spent winters in Florida but couldnt wait to get back to see her grandchildren. While in Vermont she enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens as well as watching cardinals in her birdfeeders outside the window. Lucy was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and also loved Shaq. She looked forward to playing shuffleboard and her player piano for her grandchildren. Lucy leaves behind her husband Raymond and her sons, Larry of Middlebury, John and his life partner Margaret Smith of Middlebury, Jim and his fianc Sonya Sorenson of Panton; grandchildren: Heidi and her husband Bill Cunningham, Lorrie, Joy and her husband Gene Pouliot, Bucky and his girlfriend Kelley Davio, Janet and her partner Brian Litchfield, James and Tiffany; daughter-in-law Carolyn Danyow and four great grandchildren. She is predeceased by three brothers, Lucius, Butch and Buster Shaw and two sisters, Helen Shaw and Dorothy Moore. Our family would like to thank her many caregivers and the staff at Porter Hospital for their care and comfort at this sad time. Family visiting hours will be held at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home in Middlebury. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday March 26, 2011 at 1 PM at St. Marys Church in Middlebury with Rev. Jay C. Haskin, as celebrant. Spring burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery.
