Obituary

Middlebury, VT Mrs. Lorraine Malzac Lorraine Malzac, 73, died Saturday February 25, 2006. She was born January 14, 1933 in Ripton, VT the daughter of the late Herald & Bernice (Billings) Whittemore. Lorraine was a member of the Morgan Horse Association holding several offices in the association, She was an active member of Morgan horse shows. In the past few years Lorraine and her husband have been active in the Morgan Horse Association youth club. Lorraine and her family were awarded family of the year from the association in the 1970s. She was also a member of the Welch Pony Association, the Otter Valley S.A.M.S. Camping Club, and was a twenty five year member of the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association. In her early teens Lorraine was friends with Robert Frost and spent many evenings playing cards with him. Lorraine loved working with horses and participated in the 100 mile trail ride. She was an avid hunter and enjoyed nature, sewing, knitting and making period clothing; she also made her own patterns if their was not one to be had. Lorraine is survived by her husband Ernest of Middlebury whom she married July 25, 1953 in St. Marys Church in Middlebury. By her two daughters, Michelle Burritt, of Monkton, and Karen Malzac, of Middlebury, her two granddaughters, Lisa & Lindsey Burritt, of Monkton, her grandson, Cory Burritt, of Monkton, her two sisters, Patricia Hunter, of Wellesley, MA, and Jean Whittman, of Middlebury, and also by several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours per the familys request. The family invites friends and family to stop by Ernest home in Middlebury. A Memorial service will be held on Friday March 3, 2006 at 11 AM at St. Marys Catholic Church. The Rev Justin Baker parish priest will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution in memory of Lorraine may be made to the Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association at P.O.
