Levi N. Austin, 86, of Weybridge passed away peacefully late Friday evening at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction following a long illness.
He is survived by his wife Gladys (Chaffee), his sons; John Austin and his wife Judy of Salisbury, VT and Jerry and his wife Janice of Monument Beach , Cape Cod, MA. He is also survived by his daughters Virgina Sheldon and her Fianc Michael Bubniak of Ladson, S.C. and Linda Faggiani and her husband Robert of Chesapeake, VA. He is survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Duane Austin and his wife Tonie of South Burlington, VT. He is survived by his sister-in-law Irene Spooner of Waltham, VT and brother-in-law Bill Chaffee and his wife Alice of East Middlebury, VT. Also suriving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Levi was born on June 11, 1927 in Weybridge, VT the son of the late Homer and Hazel (Poro) Austin. He was a member of the Armed Forces during World Ward Two and served in Panama. Levi was Road Commissioner of the Town of Weybridge for over twenty years. In late years he worked as a self employed carpenter. Levi enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He also was a Boy Scout Leader for the Weybridge Troop for a few years.
A graveside service will be held on Friday September 27, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Weybridge Cemetery with full military honors. Rev. Daniel Cooperrider will officiate the ceremony.
