John E. LaFontaine, 81, a lifelong Cornwall resident, passed away on Monday, August 8th at Porter Medical Center. He was born on July 18, 1935, son of the late Arthur and Julie (Kelsey) LaFontaine. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, cooking, flowers and horses. He is survived by his sons; John and Chris, daughters; Barbara Pine and Kim LaCount, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves two brothers; Alan and Arthur, close friend Sandy Hodgman-Billings and his loving caregiver Janet Welch. He was predeceased by eight siblings. Visitation at the Sanderson Funeral Home, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury, will be on Friday, August 12 from 9 to 10am. A funeral service will be held at 10am. Burial will be at a later date.
