Joan M. (Allman) Dowling, 76, formerly of Waterbury and Southington Connecticut, passed away on Saturday, July 11 at Helen Porter Healthcare in Middlebury. She was the wife of the late Bernard Clem Dowling who died in 2007. She was born in Waterbury, CT on January 9, 1939 a daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (Roberts) Allman. She attended Connecticut schools and was a graduate of Crosby High School. She was a former Technical Inspector at Sikorsky Aircraft of Connecticut.
A current resident of Salisbury, she loved camping, reading, gardening, shopping, cooking and most of all spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren, and friends.
She is survived by four children, two sons: Morgan and his wife Deborah of Missouri, Michael and his wife Paulene of Florida, two daughters; Michele LaFlam and her husband Donald of Salisbury, VT, and Marcy Michaud-Riley and her husband Kevin of CT. She also leaves her sister, Judi Taglia of CT, several nieces and nephews, and will be sadly missed by eight grandchildren; Michael, Sam, and Sarah (Holt) Dowling, Jennifer, Jason, and Joshua LaFlam; Justin and Dylan Michaud and one great grandson, Aiden Gibbud. She will also be missed by her special friend, Sande ODonnell.
She was predeceased by her brother, James Allman; and her sister, Jean Pisciotti.
Friends and relatives are requested to meet at St. Marys Church, 38 Carver St., Brandon, on Wednesday, July 15 for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial.
