Joan Ann Atwood passed away peacefully on January 15, 2018. She was born in Proctor, Vermont on October 18,1936 to Arthur John Corey and Elizabeth Josephine Mohan. Later in life she met the love of her life Allen Atwood, he won her heart and they were married February 6, 1954 in the town of Pittsford. She and Allen raised five children over the years. She worked a few jobs outside of the house but, she was an angel of a mother, a fabulous cook and had a love for gardening. Raising five children was her priority in life. As the children left the "nest", she enjoyed going fishing with Allen, and telling the "real" story of the one that got away, scrap booking, working in her flower gardens, and when the grandchildren started to arrive she loved reading to them, crafting, embroidering, pushing them on the swings. She spent as much time with her family and friends as she could. Later in life she resided in Leicester, Vt, and enjoyed rides around Lake Dunmore and all of the local scenery. Many miles traveled around Vermont as that was enjoyable to her. She loved seeing the wildlife in her yard, and watching her garden and family grow. Joan is survived by her four children: Allen Atwood Jr & Rachael, of Brandon Vt, Joyce Atwood of Addison Vt, Susan Barrows & Roger, of Morrisville Vt, Gary Atwood & Kelly, of Brandon Vt, Joallen Vincent & Michael, of Middlebury Vt; her sisters: Helen Hale, of South Londonderry Vt, Patty Guilmette, of Brandon Vt., and several grandchildren, great grand children, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other family. She was predeceased by her husband: Allen L. Atwood, son: Randall S. Atwood and the following sisters: Marjorie Patterson, Betty Osmer, Doris Aldrich, Ruth Dueso. She will be dearly missed by all that were lucky enough to have known her. A Celebration of Life will be held later this Spring.
