Obituary

Jeffrey Alan Crossman 69, died Sunday March 13, 2016 at Porter Medical Center after a long illness. He was born April 29, 1946 in Middlebury the son of Washington and Barbara (Brown) Crossman. Jeffrey was brought up by his grandparents Milton Mitt and Gladys Brown, who he lived with and took care of until her death. He was a graduate of Middlebury High School class of 1965, and worked at Brush Motors and Bill Ryans Chevrolet in Brandon while attending high school. Jeffrey enlisted in the Vermont National Guard attached to the 131St Guard Unit in 1966 and served 3 years before being honorably discharged. He returned to Middlebury and went to work for Middlebury Motors, Standard Register and Polymers Plastics before becoming self employed for 10 years as a landscaper also working at Pike Industries and D & F Paving. He then worked for various other employers in the Middlebury area until he became disabled. Jeffrey was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the Middlebury American Legion. His interests included NASCAR and he was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Jr., fan, an avid Washington Redskins and New York Yankees fan. He is survived by his mother Barbara Crossman Smith of Middlebury, his father Washington Crossman of Wallingford, VT, by his Aunt, Marjorie Brown Mooney, his cousins, Deborah Walker Perrelli and husband Vincent; Stephanie Raymond and husband Bruce; Alicia Walker Feinberg and husband Gordon; Frederick Walker III and wife Paula; Marcia Mooney Pokrant and husband John; Patrick Mooney and girl friend Catherine Byrne and Megan Mooney; his half brother Stephen Smith and half sister Marilyn Maloney and by many friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, his half brother Rodney Smith, Step Father Duane Smith and Uncles Edward Ted Mooney and Frederick Walker II, also by his aunt Elinor Brown Walker. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday March 18, 2016 from 4-7 P.M. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, located at 117 South Main Street, Middlebury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 10 A.M., at St. Marys Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Beaudin as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Addison County Home Health and Hospice at P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, Vt 05753. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.
