Jean I. Drake died on May 7, 2022, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Middlebury, Vermont. She was born in Ballston Spa, New York, on December 13, 1922, to Helen McIntosh Ivers and James Ivers. In 1942 she married James Drake and they established a home in Ballston Spa where they raised two children, Michael and Michelle. After retiring from work for the Saratoga County Welfare Department, she threw herself into retirement with gusto. She loved sailing and camping, playing bridge with friends, traveling around the world, and reading. She was an avid watercolorist. She loved a good party, family gatherings, dancing, music, going out to dinner, and sharing her opinions. She was a lover of life and held on tight to the life she knew until she passed away peacefully at the age of 99. She is survived by her son Michael Drake (Joanne), her daughter Michelle Hudson (Raymond), four grandsons and their spouses and partners, and seven great-grandchildren. Interment will be at the Saratoga National Cemetery with a remembrance to be held at a future date.
