Obituary

MIDDLEBURY- VT Janet Mary Maisoneauve Martel Brunelle, 74, died January 23, 2008 at Helen Porter Nursing Home after a long illness with Parkinsons and Dementia. She was born February 27, 1933 in North Conway, NH, the daughter of the late Jean and Maurice Maisoneauve. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1951. She worked as a telephone operator with the New England Telephone Co. in her early years. She married Thomas Paul Martel in October 1953; they had four children, John, James, Thomas and Paula. He predeceased Janet in May of 1978. She remarried another special man, Robert O. Brunelle who predeceased her on February 11, 2005. She was a woman who was protected, loved, cared for and put on a pedestal by two incredible men. Janet enjoyed traveling, shopping, entertaining, playing bridge and golfing. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed her summers in South Burlington, VT and winters in Sun City, FL. Janet was an active member with the JCs Club, Canadian Club, Elks Club, and bridge club. She was a member of Christ the King Parish and St. Marys Catholic Church. Janet will be remembered for her appetite for life, her gracious hospitality and her sense of humor. She is survived by her daughter Paula Martel Duchaine of Salisbury, her sons John Martel of Vergennes, James Martel of Riverside, CT, Thomas Martel of Winooski. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Gay Martel and son-in-law Allen Duchaine, four grandchildren Arielle, Elliana, Jeremiah & Caitlin Ruby, her sister Marilyn Noble of Sarasota, FL, and four step-daughters, Pam, Kathy, Nancy and Paula and their children and spouses. Janet was predeceased by her sister Pat Bianchi, and her dearly beloved family, the Michauds, who gave her a fresh start in life. Friends may call at Sanderson Funeral Home 117 South Main Street, Middlebury on Thursday January 24 from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held immediately after at 7 pm at Sanderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Skip Baltz, pastor of St. Mary Church , Brandon, officiating. Burial will be Friday at Hope Cemetery, Barre. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinsons Unity Walk, P.O. Box 275, Kingston, NJ 08528.
