Middlebury, VT Mr. James Alton Davis
Mr. James Alton Davis, 97, died early Sunday morning October 22, 2006 at Shard Villa, in Salisbury.
He was born February 3, 1909 in New Haven, the son of the late Hassen & Fern (Thew) Davis. He was a graduate of Hinesburg High School Class of 1928.
He married Muriel Bigelow on October 25, 1939 in Middlebury.
James attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. In 1946 James started work for Community Light & Power as a lineman and retired from Central Vermont Public Service in 1974.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Twila Skelly, of Guilford, CT and Linda Vincent & her husband Russ, of Charleston, SC, his 3 grandchildren, Nick Geraci, of Charleston, SC, Zachary Geraci, of Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer Skelly, of North Haven, CT, and also by many nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Muriel Davis of 66 years who died September 5, 2005 also by his brothers, Roger Davis and Wilfred Davis, also by his sister, Dorothy Wilde.
James is also survived by a loyal group of retired line men that meet every Friday morning at Rosies Restaurant.
The family wishs to express their deep appreciation to the care givers at Porter Hospital & Helen Porter Health & Rehab, they are also most thankful to Deb Choma, Pam and Bill plus the dedicated caregivers at Shard Villa.
Funeral services will be on Thursday October 26, 2006 at 11 AM at Sanderson Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury
Visiting hours will be on Thursday October 26, 2006 from 10 AM till the time of the service at 11 AM at Sanderson Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sanderson Funeral Service.
