James D Danyow Jr., 24 of Middlebury passed away unexpectedly at his home in the early morning of November 11, 2016.
James was born April 8th, 1992 in Burlington, VT to James D. Danyow and Penny (Cota) Danyow. James grew up in Middlebury and attended Middlebury Union High School. While at MUHS he excelled as a student-athlete. A lifelong enthusiast of sports, James was elected captain of the varsity baseball, basketball and football teams. He was the recipient of the prestigious Dorey Cup his junior year, which is awarded to the top male and female athletes at MUHS who also excel in the classroom. Football was his passion, and his crowning achievements were being selected to play in the 2010 Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl and annual North-South Football game. After graduating from MUHS in 2010, he attended UVM and graduated in May 2015 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for Champlain Construction Co. in Middlebury as an estimator/project manager.
Whether you knew him as James, Jimmy, Jim, Uncle Jimmy or Jammerdoo he had a sweet gentle demeanor and huge happy smile with his rosy red cheeks for everyone he met. He had a wonderful and witty sense of humor and loved to amaze people with his ability to recall and quote sports statistics. He was an avid fantasy football player, enjoying mostly how it kept him and his friends close. He spent many hours sitting and watching sports with his beloved Papa with his Nana close by yelling at them to turn the tv down. He was especially fond of spending time with his nieces and nephew, and to them, he hung the moon. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on for anyone who asked. He will be remembered as a kind, caring, and thoughtful young man, who touched many hearts.
He is survived by his mother Penny Danyow and her partner John Babcock, his father James D. Danyow and his wife Sonya Sorenson, his brother Robert Clark, wife Diana and their children Sydney, Sophia and Sawyer, his sister Lindsey Fifield, husband Eric and their child Evelyn, and his sister Tiffany Danyow. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and the many friends that he loved so dearly. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Mary Gabbiett and his paternal grandparents Raymond and Lucy Danyow.
