James H. Bennett Sr., 69, died Monday afternoon January 09, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 5, 1942 in Middlebury, the son of the late Harold W. and Flora Mae (James) Bennett. James was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed four-wheeling, watching wrestling, and spending time with friends and family. During his life he was a loving foster parent to many children. He was the owner and operator of A & A Taxi Service in East Middlebury and previously owned Bennett and Sons, a painting and floor sanding company. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Wood) Bennett; by their children, Randy Hobbs, James H. Bennett Jr., John Bennett, Jeff Bennett, Gary Bennett, Earl Bennett, Wendy Royce, David Warner, Travis Altman and Justin Matis; by his seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 1 PM at the Munger Street Cemetery in New Haven. The Rev. William Beaudin, pastor of St. Marys Catholic Church will officiate.
