Middlebury- Hilda N. Spaulding, 90, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at Helen Porter Healthcare, Middlebury following a period of failing health.
Born September 23, 1919 in East Fairfield, VT, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Hazel (Wright) Nolan.
She was a member of St. Marys Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Hilda was past state regent in Catholic Daughters and held various other offices at the state level.
Hilda was a good athlete and was a sports enthusiast. She enjoyed crocheting and raising flowers.
Survivors include her companion, Bud Lundergan of Middlebury, two daughters, Sally Rigg and her husband Jon of Bridport, Susan Lee and her husband Stuart of East Middlebury; two sons, Skip Spaulding and his wife Dianna of Amherst, Ma, and Kent Spaulding and his wife Donna of Inverness, FL; a sister-in-law Arlie N. Williamson of Jeffersonville ; grandchildren, Jon Rigg, Jr. and Cybil Myrick of Bridport, Kari Wagner and her husband Mark Wagner of Plymouth, MA, Scott Lee of Middlebury, Erin Spaulding and her fiance Mike Capachione of Stoughton, MA, Christopher Spaulding of Clifton Park, NY; great grandchildren, Hannah Wagner, Jack Wagner and Riley Spaulding; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, C. Stuart Spaulding in 1972 and two brothers, Neil Nolan and John Nolan.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 PM at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 S. Main St., Middlebury. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM Thursday at St. Marys Church with the Rev. Brian ODonnell, Parochial Vicar, as celebrant. Spring burial will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Middlebury.
