Shoreham, VT Hattie M. Gleason
Hattie M. Gleason, 87, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January, 15, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family in Shoreham, Vermont.
She was born August 3, 1924 in Lincoln, Vermont, the daughter of Alson and Carrie (Cobb) Martell.
She attended Lincoln schools.
She had a passion for crocheting and was a big fan of NASCAR, especially dedicated to Dale Earnhardt, Sr. In her early days she loved fishing, wrestling, and going to Devils Bowl Speedway to watch her son, Francis, and son-in-law, Donald Sargent, race. She also enjoyed country music.
She is survived by three sons; Robert Clark and wife Delma of Wallingford, VT, Michael Clark and his companion Dawn Waite of Bristol, VT and Randy Clark and his wife Linda of Midland, NC; two daughters; Alberta Sargent and her companion Gary English of Middlebury and Sandra Jewell and her husband Kevin of Shoreham, VT; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Gleason, in 1998; one son, Francis Clark, in 2003; and two great-granddaughters, Chelsea Clark and Amanda New. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings, including 6 brothers; Charles Martell, John Martell, James Martell, Eli Martell, Raymond Martell and Henry Martell, and 4 sisters; Edris Clark, Rose Gagnon, Esther Gagnon and Beatrice Gleason.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 18, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury. Family and friends may call from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Lincoln.
