Obituary

Harris Eugene Larocque passed away January 2, 2015 at his home in Ripton at the age of 67 after a long illness. He was born September 21, 1947 in Salisbury VT, son of Omer and Yvonne (Quenneville) Larocque. Harris graduated from MUHS in 1966. He started working at a young age on a dairy farm for Donald Goodrich in Salisbury. After several years of farming, Harris took a job at Middlebury College. He worked for 29 years in the meat cutting department before he was forced to retire in 2005 due to poor health. Harris helped establish the Salisbury fire department and later served as captain. He loved his family and he was especially devoted to his twelve grandchildren. He loved visiting with his brothers and sisters at family gatherings where playing cards was a favorite past time. Harris is survived by his son Patrick Larocque (PJ) and his companion Robyn Rheaume of West Salisbury VT, his son Nathan Larocque and his wife Stephanie of Brandon VT, his daughter Sarah Larocque and her companion Charles Pidgeon of Ripton VT and Marilyn Larocque his previous wife and friend and twelve lovely grandchildren who were the apple of Harris's eye. Harris is also survived by nine brothers and sister, Jeannette Jackson of New Haven VT, Marcel Larocque and his companion Jean of St Albans VT, Paul Larocque of Middlebury VT, Roger Larocque and wife Debbie of Ripton VT, Morris Larocque and his wife Vivian of Cornwall VT, Susan Homick and her husband Steve of Middlebury VT, Leo Larocque and his wife Penny of Brandon VT, Anita Larocque of Leicester, VT and Pauline LaPlant of Ripton VT. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Harris was predeceased by his parents Omer and Yvonne Larocque, two brother in-laws Russell Jackson and Charles LaPlant , a sister in-law Diane Larocque and a nephew David Volkert. At Harris' request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion in Middlebury (Behind G. Stone Motors) on Tuesday, January 6 from 2-5 PM. All are invited to come and share stories of his life and play cards. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ripton Fire & First Response, PO Box 125, Ripton, VT 05766.
