Elizabeth Geraldine (Daigneault) Emilo Middlebury, VT 06/20/1931 11/03/2012 Gerry passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 3rd with her caretaker, Laurie, by her side. Born in Vergennes, Gerry was the daughter of Foster and Evelyn (Choquette) Daigneault. She attended Vergennes Union High School. In 1947, she married Louis J. Emilo, Sr. in St. Peters Church in Vergennes, VT. Louis predeceased her in December 2008 after 61 years of marriage. Gerry worked for a brief time in the kitchen at Middlebury Union High School, was active in the Home Demonstration Club, and enjoyed candlepin bowling. Her devotion to raising and caring for her family was unrelenting. She was an amazing cook who took great pride in providing Sunday meals for her family, including her famous spaghetti sauce. During many winter months, Gerry and Louie enjoyed spending time with their friends and family in Florida. In the summer, they were able to celebrate, relax and enjoy each others company at their cottage on Lake Dunmore. Surviving her are her children, son Louis J. Emilo, Jr. and wife Susan of Myrtle Beach, SC, son Richard S. Emilo and wife Glenna of Middlebury, son Ronald A. Emilo and wife Sheila of Essex Junction, and daughter Wendy, and husband James Giard of Shoreham. Nana leaves grandchildren Chris Emilo and companion Gail Mannigan of Middlebury, Brett Emilo and wife Kate Farnsworth of Montour Falls, NY, Jason Emilo and wife Stephanie of Malaysia, Tony Emilo of Shoreham. Also, Eric Emilo and wife Whitney of Stone Ridge, VA, Dana Livingston and husband Mark of New Haven, Jocelyn Emilo and companion Mike Mulligan of Shoreham, Bailey Emilo and companion Brian Wilkinson of Monkton, Gina Emilo and companion Darren Ouellette of Shoreham. Also Amanda Giard and companion Patrick Needham of New Haven and Ryley Giard and companion Brittany Moylan of Boulder, CO and Gerritt Badger of Essex Junction. Gerry has left behind six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four infant daughters, Mary, Jane, June and Joan. Also by six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one sister, Rita Benson, of West Rutland, many nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law Teri Hagen-Emilo and best friends John and Donna Hendy. Gerry was deeply and compassionately cared for at the end of her life by Norma Dragon, Laurie Ellis, Sally Cyr, Patti Fitzsimmons and Gina Emilo. Our family will be forever grateful for their commitment to our mother. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, especially Kathy Laframboise. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 11 am at St. Marys Church in Middlebury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Addison County, Middlebury, VT.
