GERALD FITZ-GERALD VERGENNES- Gerald M. Tim Fitz-Gerald (Fitzie), 82, of Plank Rd. died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Porter Hospital, Middlebury. Born in Brooklyn, NY June 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Gerald and Ruth (Dean) Fitz-Gerald. He was a graduate of Metuchen High School, Class of 1943, Metuchen, NJ. He attended Rutgers University and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1953. He was a field engineer for Baker Perkins of Saginaw, MI, later worked for Western States Machinery Co. of Hamilton, OH and since 1969 has owned and operated Fitz-Gerald Antiques of Vergennes. He was a highly respected antique dealer, known throughout New England. He served in the United States Army in WW II, being stationed in Adak Alaska and throughout the Aleutian Islands. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church of Vergennes. Family members include his wife Barbara M. (Reed) Fitz-Gerald of Vergennes; one son, Gerald Ralph Fitz-Gerald and his wife Teri of Monkton; one daughter, Ruth K. Gould and her husband Douglas of Addison; one sister, Geraldine Bonnie N. Claren and her husband Joseph William of Port St. Lucie, FL; five grandchildren, Jennifer L. Gould of Bridport and Timothy D. Gould of Addison; Gwendolyn M. Fitz-Gerald , Jillian M. Fitz-Gerald , and Gerald Spencer Fitz-Gerald, all of Monkton; and nieces nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Joanna Fitz-Gerald. Calling hours will be Friday, September14, 2007 from 7-9 PM at Sanderson Funeral Service, 117 South Main St., Middlebury. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, September 16, 2007 at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 6 Park St., Vergennes with Rev. William Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset View Cemetery, Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to Addison County Home health at P.O. Box 754 Middlebury, Vt 05753 or to the American Cancer Society at 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701, or to the charity of ones choice.
