Gene Alan Oliver BRIDPORT-Gene Alan Oliver, 46, passed away as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Gene was born on August 27, 1967 to Dexter and Ruth (Denett) Oliver at Porter Hospital in Middlebury. He grew up in Bridport, attending Bridport Central School , the Patricia Hannaford Career Center and was a graduate of Middlebury Union High School, class of 1985. He was employed as a machinist at Velan Valve in Williston for over 20 years. Gene had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tractor pulling. He was a member of the Oliver Pulling Team and the Vermont Tractor Pulling Association. His greatest joy in life was his daughter, Emma, who survives him. He also is survived by his parents, Dexter and Ruth Oliver; sisters Pamela and her husband Jeffrey Correia of Addison; sister Rebecca and her husband Paul Plouffe of Bridport. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Morgan and Bradley Correia; Pierre, Chelsea, Melissa, Michael and Desiree Plouffe; and great niece Renee Plouffe. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Thelma Denett ; several aunts, uncles and cousins and Special friend Missy Cyr. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Cleo Oliver and Vincenzo and Bernice Fucile; maternal grandfather Richard Denett; and uncle Vincent Fucile. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 27, 2013 at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury. The Rev. Gary Lewis will officiate.
