GENE MAHEU
MIDDLEBURY-Gene L. Maheu, 79, a lifelong resident of Middlebury, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Middlebury.
Born June 14, 1930, he was the son of the late Guy Doner and Gladys Maheu.
He was a graduate of Middlebury High School and served in the United Sates Army.
He was a hardware salesman at Middlebury Hardware and later worked in Rochester.
Gene was a member of Church of the Assumption, Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving family members include his wife Vivian J. (Burgor) Maheu whom he married July 5, 1952; one daughter, Cheryl A. Powden and her husband Charles of Hinesburg, VT; three brothers, Cleon Bigelow of Middlebury, Bernard Bigelow of Wallingford, and Stanton Bigelow of MA; one sister, Sandra Mitchell of Rutland; four grandchildren, Johanna M. Powden of Santa Maria, CA, Benjamin C. Powden, Nicholas J. Powden, and Cameron J. Powden, all of Hinesburg; nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, May 8, 2010, with the Rev. Brian ODonnell, Parochial Vicar, as celebrant.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 S. Main Middlebury.
