Eugene J. Lorent, 90, passed away on October 12, 2017 in Middlebury. He was born at home on July 27, 1927, at least according to official government documents. He has the distinction of being baptized before he was born according to the incorrect filed birth certificate. He was the son of Walter and Bridget (Pogorelski) Lorent.
Eugene worked for over 50 years with his eldest brother Joseph at Johnson Forging Works in Newark, NJ. "Jadge" is survived by his daughter Claire Thomas (Mark) and son Drew Lorent. He is also survived by three grand children, Reid and his wife Victoria, Craig and his wife Lydia, and Brent Thomas. He is also survived by his very special great-grand children Alexander, Caroline and Benton.
He was predeceased by his wife Lola who he wed on June 16, 1951. He met her after leaving the service in the Navy, which he joined at the age of 17 after leaving high school early. Eugene joined the Navy in 1944, serving for one year before the end of World War II. The visiting hours will be on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Sanderson Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:30 am at the East Middlebury Methodist Church. A private burial will take place at the Ballston Spa Cemetary in Ballston Spa, NY at the familys convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 754, Middlebury, Vt. 05753.
