Middlebury, VT Elsie K. Cooley Elsie K. Cooley 74, died Wednesday evening March21, 2012 at Helen Porter Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury. She was born January 16, 1938 in Barre, VT the daughter of William G. and Leola (Brown) Carter. Shortly after birth Elsie was raised by her foster parents Floyd and Julia (Bowers) Rockwood. Elsie worked as a L.N.A. doing private home health care for over thirty years. She was of Methodist faith, Elsie was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, she was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed reading romance novels, playing Bingo and doing puzzles. She also enjoyed owls and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Donna Kerr and her husband Tom, of Ripton, Dorran Cooley and his wife Pearl, of Brandon and Todd Cooley and his companion Dianne Bryant. By her sisters, Lillian Ekroos, of Middlebury and Gladys Rivers, of Brandon, by her four grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren, by her foster brothers, Walter Rockwood, of Chelsea, VT and Gordon Rockwood, of California. Also by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold Cooley on August 2, 2002 and by several brothers and sisters. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Sunday March 25, 2012 from 2 P.M. until 5 P.M. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home. Located at 117 South Main Street, Middlebury. A graveside side service will be held on Monday March 26, 2012 in Prospect Cemetery in East Middlebury at 11 A.M. The Rev. Lucy Pellegrini will officiate.
