Middlebury, VT Elisabeth Carlin Elisabeth Carlin, 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 in her home surrounded by her family and close friends after a short illness. She was a longtime resident of Middlebury. She was born Elisabeth Schmitt on December 25, 1915 in Passaic, N.J. daughter of Hans H. and Elisabeth (Stoehr) Schmitt. Elisabeth worked for many years at Middlebury College until her retirement in 1981. She volunteered for Hospice and Round Robin until her illness. She was predeceased in 2001 by her husband of 61 years, James J. Carlin. Elisabeth is survived by her children Judith Cole and her husband Richard of Middlebury, Ellen Carlin and her husband James Prelack of Portland, OR, and Chris Carlin and his wife Barbara of Hyde Park, VT; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 18 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in Middlebury. Calling hours are 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 17 at Sanderson Funeral home.
