Edward Francis Lundrigan, known as "Bud", passed away on July 26, 2017 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 93. Bud was born on January 13, 1924 in Brandon, Vermont.
After graduating from Brandon High School he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He served under General Patton as a Pfc, in Company K of the 180th Infantry Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division. He served in the European front and was waiting to board a ship to Japan when the war ended.
After his discharge Bud traveled to New York City where he graduated from Barber school. Upon returning to Brandon, Bud married Rhondalee Nichols in 1948. They moved to Middlebury where Bud joined his Uncle Ed Center in the barbering business. Bud soon became the owner of "Buds Barber Shop" where locals and personalities such as Robert Frost and Johnny Cash joined in hair-cutting conversations, covering politics to town news. Bud kept the discussions going for over 60 years.
Bud was an active member of the Middlebury community. He spent weekends cutting hair at Helen Porter Nursing Home, Porter Hospital, Elderly Services or going to a clients home to bring the news as well as trim the hair. Bud was a lifetime member of the Middlebury Fire Department and the last living member of A.N.D.R.E. He was a member of the Middlebury American Legion, Middlebury V.F.W and the Knights of Columbus. He was an usher, served on the cemetery committee, and in his retirement years, an altar server at St. Marys Church of the Assumption.
He was an avid sports enthusiast and supporter of local sports programs in Middlebury. Bud was a ardent golfer and enjoyed playing into his 90s.
Bud was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Anna (Center) Lundrigan, his wife Rhodalee (Nichols), two sisters, Margaret Purcell and Ruth Rantanen. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Garreth Parizo (Kevin) and son Shawn (Joyce), 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, a nephew and many cousins.
