EDNA PULS Bristol/ Cornwall- Edna S. Puls, 83, died peacefully Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the home of Mary Bingham, her home since 1994, after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimers and Parkinsons Disease. Born December 30, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Elsa (Naumann) Schneider. During her youth she lived in Brooklyn where she graduated from Bay Ridge High School in January 1941. Her family then moved to Hempstead, New York to a home built by her father. She attended evening classes at Hofstra University in Hempstead. Edna was employed as a secretary at Middlebury College after moving with her family to Cornwall in 1973. After her husbands death in 1978, she owned and operated the family health food store, All Good Things, in Middlebury for one year. She enjoyed photography, cross country skiing, writing, swimming, walking, and playing piano. While in New York she was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church and when living in Cornwall she was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church of Cornwall. Family members include two daughters, Janet P. Shaw and her husband Robert of Bristol and Barbara L. Puls and her partner Tammy Charbonneau of Essex Juction; one son, R. Scott Puls and his partner, Jose Matthews of Lancaster, MA; three grandchildren, Jessica M. Shaw, Amanda C. Shaw, and Ian R. Shaw, all of Bristol. She was predeceased by her husband Robert W. Puls in 1978, and by a brother, J. Norman Schneider. The family gratefully acknowledges Mary Bingham and her family for their 14 years of loving and dedicated care provided to their mother. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 PM at Sanderson Funeral Home, 117 S. Main St., Middlebury. The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 10 AM at the First Congregational Church of Cornwall, Route 30, Cornwall with Rev. Sally Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Cornwall Central Cemetery.
