Bristol, VT Dorothy Halnon Witherell Mrs. Dorothy Halnon Witherell 96, died Saturday evening June 27, 2009 at the Myrick Care home in Bristol. She was born May 23, 1913 in Salisbury, VT the daughter of the late Frank & Sara (McNulla) Halnon. Dorothy married John Harris Witherell on August 4, 1937. They celebrated there 60th wedding anniversary in 1997. He predeceased her on November 15, 1997. She was the last surviving graduate of Middlebury High School class of 1931. Dorothy was a honorary member of Porter Hospital Auxiliary having served as treasurer, and was employed by the National Bank of Middlebury for 30 years. She is survived by her brother, James Halnon, of Salisbury and many loving nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, and her sisters, Sarah Wisell and Agnes Murphy, also by her brothers, Francis, William, John, Leonard and Howard Halnon. Howard was declared missing in action during World War II. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday July 2, 2009 at 11 Am at St. Marys Catholic Church. The Rev. William R. Beaudin as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
