Mrs. Dorothy S. Stearns, 90, died Wednesday evening October 4, 2006 at Woodridge Nursing Home in Barre, after a long illness. She was born October 19, 1915 in Middlebury, the daughter of the late William & Carrie (Piper) Simonds. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Middlebury High School and Middlebury College. Dorothy was a bookkeeper for many years with Simonds Texaco. Dorothy was a member of the Middlebury Congregational Church, and the International Order of Kings Daughter's and Son's. She loved her family and taught piano for many years in the Middlebury area. Dorothy loved watching birds and loved spending time at Lake Dunmore with family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters; Virginia (Ginny) Ashenfelter of Bristol and Bonnie Stearns of Montpelier. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday October 10, 2006 from 4 - 6pm at Sanderson Funeral Service in Middlebury. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Middlebury Congregational Church. The Rev. Marthinius Riekert will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Cornwall.
